Here we explain how we delivered a projection mapping DJ booth setup at Da Maria Bali for NYE 2025, one of the island’s most iconic venues.
The Concept: Lightweight DJ Booth Projection Mapping
After discussions with the Da Maria team, we agreed on one clear direction:
the visuals needed to feel clean, elegant, and atmospheric, not heavy or distracting.
Initially, we explored solid projection surfaces and fixed structures. However, these options felt too bulky for the space and risked becoming a visual distraction rather than an enhancement.
That’s when we decided, why not project our mapping onto tulle fabric.
Tulle offered a lighter, more refined solution. It allowed the visuals to appear almost floating, creating depth without overwhelming the DJ booth or the venue. Even when the projection was off, the fabric blended seamlessly into the environment.
Inspired by a hologram-like effect, this approach added atmosphere while respecting Da Maria’s design and energy.
Equipment Used for the Projection Mapping
For this setup, we used:
- 2 × 5000 lumens projectors
- Resolume for real-time mapping and content control
- Fabric (tulle fabric) as the projection surface
Using two projectors allowed us to:
- Achieve even brightness across the DJ booth
- Cover the full width of the fabric
- Maintain visual clarity in a dim nightlife environment
Building the Mapping Surface (Fabric + Cable Ties)
To create the projection surface, we began by stretching tulle fabric tightly across the DJ booth frame.
Process:
- The fabric was pulled evenly to avoid wrinkles
- Secured using cable ties for stability
- Checked and adjusted to keep the surface flat during the event
All materials were sourced locally in Denpasar, keeping the setup efficient, flexible, and cost-effective.

Mapping & Content Setup with Resolume
Once the surface was ready, we moved into the mapping phase.
Resolume allows us to adjust visuals in real time, which is essential for live club environments where lighting and energy can change quickly. This flexibility made it the perfect tool for NYE at Da Maria.
